Department of Theoretical Physics and Astrophysics


The Department of Theoretical Physics and Astrophysics provides training in the Republic of Belarus for specialists in Theoretical Physics, Astrophysics, and Cosmology — the branches of physics that study the most general laws of nature and the world around us. The Department trains highly qualified specialists for research institutions and higher education institutions in the fields of Quantum Field Theory, Relativistic Cosmology, Elementary Particle and High-Energy Physics, and Condensed Matter Physics.

History and Development

Кафедра теоретической физики и астрофизики – одна из старейших на факультете. Основана в 1938 г. как кафедра теоретической физики.

Решением Ученого совета БГУ от 11 октября 2010 утверждено изменение в названии кафедры — кафедра теоретической физики переименована в кафедру теоретической физики и астрофизики.
